Local Businesses discover shortages of telecom professionals

Major Telecommunications contractors such as Comcast, Crown Castle, Compunetix, and Atlantic Business Systems may find it more difficult to recruit Telecommunications Technicians in the near future.  As the looming concern of the average age of these technicians exceeds 50 years old.    As a result, many political leaders, and Government Agencies like the FCC have begun to pay attention to this building crisis.  

Atlantic Business Systems is a Telecommunications Contractor who provides Telephone Systems in Pittsburgh PA, Hanover PA, York PA, Philadelphia, Maryland, Delaware, and as far out to Ohio.   Atlantic Business Systems, is a leader in Business Phone Systems Repair and Phone System Support.   They have great concern that these jobs are not being filled at a great enough rate to support the millions of Small Business Phone Systems nationwide.  “Who repairs Small Business Phone Systems?”, we do but we require skilled technicians to be able to do that! 

We were already experiencing shortages of skilled telecommunication technicians who worked on brands such as:  Norstar, Nortel Networks, Comdial, 3COM, Lucent, Toshiba Strata, Samsung Business Phones, Vodavi, and now Panasonic Phone Systems as these brands did a poor job of training enough technicians.   

It appears the FCC and Political leaders as well as at least one Governor agree.  Now there is a major push to get more folks trained to be Telecommunications Technicians so that Business Phone Systems, Cloud Systems, Networking, Fiber, and Telephone Wiring can be maintained in our communities and towns.   

Companies rely on their office phone systems and it is critical that we build a skilled base of technicians who can work on systems like Avaya, NEC, VoIP, and other major Office Phone Systems going forward.  We often do not realize how important these folks are until we realize that the aging workforce who have supported earlier brands such as: Comdial, Nortel, Panasonic Phone Systems, Toshiba Phone System, and others are retiring at an alarming rate.  It will make supporting these phone systems almost impossible.
